Overview of Bangalore :
Also known as the Garden City, Bangalore is the capital of the southern
Indian state of Karnataka. The city was founded by Kempe Gowda in 1537 AD.
Bangalore offers numerous tourist destinations including historic monuments,
picturesque gardens, parks and several temples. The city is also famous for
various traditional handicraft items like silk saris, jewellery and carved
sandalwood items. The is now the fifth largest city of the country and a
highly industrialised for its concentration of IT industries. Hence, the
city is called the Silicon Valley of India for its growing IT industries.
Recently, the name of the city has been changed to Bengaluru.
Climate of Bangalore :
Bangalore experiences a moderate and pleasant climate. The summers from
April to June are mild and winters from October to February are cool. The
city experiences the south-western monsoon between June to August. The
summer temperature varies between 22 to 32 degrees C and the minimum winter
temperature drops to 15 degrees C. Though the climate of the city is
pleasant throughout the year but can be best visited during winter.
Tourist Attractions of Bangalore :
There are numerous tourist places in the city which include palaces,
gardens, parks, temples and many more reflecting its glorious history and
culture of the city.

Vidhana Soudha - Now the State Secretariat, this beautiful building is
an excellent example of neo-Dravidian architecture. Completely made of
granite this massive building has a large sandalwood door which is one of
the prime features of this structure.
» Bangalore Fort - The fort of the city was built
by Kempe Gowda and later enlarged by the great Hyder Ali and his son Tipu
Sultan, the rulers of Mysore Kingdom.
» Tipu Sultan's Palace - Located on the Albert
Victor road, the construction of this magnificent palace was started by
Hyder Ali and completed by his son Tipu Sultan in the year 1791. It was the
summer residence of Tipu Sultan.
» Cubbon Park - The park is located opposite of the
building Vidhana Soudh with an area of 300 acres. This lush green park was
setup in 1864 and is now a popular hangout zone in the city. It has
beautifully laid out lawns, various flowering trees, grassy fields,
children's play ground, which make it one of the most visited places of
Bangalore. There are also some newly added gothic buildings which houses the
Public Library, the High Court and museums.
» Lalbagh Garden - Covering an area of 240 km, this
beautifully laid out garden is a popular picnic spot in the city. The garden
is home to many tropical and subtropical plants, a deer park, fountains and
pond that attract the visitors.
Getting to Bangalore :
The garden city is easily accessible from all parts of India through all
three means of transportation.

By Air - Located at a distance of 15 km from the city centre, the
Bangalore Airport is well connected to all the metros and some other
important destinations of India. The city also has direct international
flights to Muscat, Sharjah and Singapore. It is also a stop over for many
international flights.
» By Rail - The City Railway Station of Bangalore
is the major railhead. It is connected to major Indian cities by regular
express train services.
» By Road - The main bus terminal of the city is
located near the City Railway Station and is well connected to all the major
south Indian cities by frequent buses run by the Karnataka State Road
Transport Corporation(KSRTC).
