Overview of Pushkar City :
Nestled in the Aravali valley of central Rajasthan, the city Pushkar is one
of the most sacred places for Hindus. The city is famous for its picturesque
Pushkar Lake and the annual religious and cattle fare celebrated in the
month of October and November. The city is dotted with numerous temples,
ghats and ashrams. There are around 400 temples and the notable one is the
Brahma Temple, the only one dedicated to Lord Brahma. The place attracts
tourists from all parts of world for its colourful fairs and festivals with
folk songs and dance.
Climate of Pushkar :
The city experiences a very hot and humid climate. Its summer temperature
goes up to 45 degrees C and in winters it can drop as low as 10 degrees C.
The best time to visit the city is during October to March.
Tourist Attractions of Pushkar :

The
temples, lakes, ghats are the major tourist attractions of the city.
» Pushkar Lake & Ghats - The picturesque
Pushkar lake was believed to have created Lord Brahma, when a lotus fell
from his hand and dropped into this beautiful valley. So Hindus regard it as
a sacred place and come on a large number to take a holy dip in the lake.
There are around 52 ghats which are used for bathing by the pilgrims.
» Temples - The lake is surrounded by numerous
temples located on the city of Pushkar and some of them are pilgrimage sites
for Hindus. The major one is the Brahma Temple, which is the only one
dedicated to Lord Brahma - one of the Hindu Trinities. The temple houses a
large statue of Lord Brahma and has painted marble floors and stairs.
» Pushkar Fair - The Pushkar Fair held in the month
of October and November also attracts tourist and pilgrims on a large scale.
Pilgrims take bath in the famous Pushkar Lake and perform rituals. The other
major event of the fair is the trading of camels and various cultural
programmes.

By Air - Jaipur's Sanganer Airport is the nearest one, which is well
connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jodhpur, Udaipur. Indian Airlines has
air services to all these cities by a regular basis.
» By Rail - The Ajmer Junction located on the broad
gauge line is the nearest railhead. It is connected to all the metro cities
of India along with other major destinations. It is well connected to Delhi
by Ajmer Shatabdi and Mumbai by the Aravali Express.
» By Road - Pushkar city is just 11 km from Ajmer
and Rajasthan Roadways has bus services to all the major cities of the state
as well as other North Indian cities.
» By Local Transport - Cabs and taxis are available
for travelling within the city.
