CHAPEL BRIDGEHead to the Chapel Bridge first (5 Mins walk from City Centre)
The Chapel Bridge is the most famous tourist spot in Lucerne and one of the main points of interest. The wooden bridge was constructed in the 14th century, it was once partly burnt down and was rebuilt again, also it is a magnet for tourists, and with a convenient location close to the train station which is easy to reach. You can also see this in nights with beautiful lights.
From the bridge, you can look to the side to see the many restaurants lined up – nice places to have tea or lunch/dinner.
You can even see the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) from the bridge, which is one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland and have a great view of the alps as well.
SPREUER BRIDGEOnly a couple of meters behind the Chapel Bridge you´ll find its little sister – the Spreuer Bridge is another wooden bridge that is the main tourist spot in Lucerne.
Here, you´ll notice an interesting series of paintings that date back to the 17th century. Whereas it is less busy and less popular, the views is good from there and due to its proximity to the Chapel Bridge it will not take you much time to get there, so another must-see in Lucerne.
Also Visit JESUIT CHURCHUsing swiss pass, take public transport to Emmenbrücke and walk to The Jesuit Church, a Catholic Church built in the 17th century, it is an attraction worth seeing even if you are not religious. It is near to the Chapel Bridge, so you can get there easily.
In Evening you can explore OLD TOWNThe old town is a regular Swiss old town. With a central location to the lake and the Chapel Bridge, you can't miss it and it is an incredible spot to do shopping - particularly watches.
If you do a self-guided walking tour, you should also visit the Town Hall, and on the way, you'll pass some pretty structures with interesting facades (and I mean seriously pretty buildings). However, half a day in Lucerne is sufficient to have seen the majority of the downtown area.
LAKE LUCERNE PROMENADEThe Lucerne promenade in the downtown area is very busy and quite lively most of the time, making Lucerne look bigger than it actually is. This is one of the things you will surely enjoy the most when in Lucerne.
